How do I disable screen password on my Motorola Droid?

I have the first Motorola Droid and I just activated the screen password to see how the pattern lock is used. Now I want to remove it, but there is no option on my phone. the only options under settings are – Change Screen Lock, Use Visible Pattern and Use tactile feedback. How do I disable the password?

okay first it depends on which version of android 2.0 you are using. you will know bc if youre running the same as me then you are able to set a password, a pin, or a pattern to lock/unlock. if youre running the older version then you will only be able to set a pattern to lock/unlock.

to deactivate for the newest software: from the home screen- menu key- settings- location and security- change screen lock- enter your password, pin, or pattern- select none from the list.

to deactivate for the older software: from the home screen- menu key- settings-location and security-uncheck the box that says require pattern to unlock-confirm decision by putting in your pattern
